Hallsville School District is accepting applications for the position of Paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 school year.  This is a 9-month position with benefits. Qualified applicants will need to have 60 college credit hours OR be willing and able to take the Praxis test.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  2. Assists the teacher with reinforcing material or skills based on the understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  3. Will meet the need(s) of a student as outlined in the IEP.
  4. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. 
  5. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  6. Assists with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
  7. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
  8. Assists students in the library or media center.
  9. May need to help students with their clothing, toileting, personal needs, etc. based on the needs of the students as determined by student's ability.
  10. Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
  11. Alerts the regular teacher and special education case manager to any problem or special information about an individual student. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  12. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  13. Participates in district training programs, as assigned.
  14. Attend CPI certification training
  15. Assists with small group re-teaching activities in both special education and regular education classrooms.
  16. May be assigned a daily am/pm bus route as a ride-along aide on the bus.
  17. Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Hallsville R-IV Public School District

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 50 pounds, such as, to lift files, papers, and equipment.
