Hallsville School District, a four-day workweek calendar, is accepting applications for the position of Library Media Aide for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a 10-month position with benefits. Qualified applicants must have either 60 college credit hours and have a teacher or substitute certification. (This position will not start until August 2025)
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Intermediate school students in selecting books and other library materials that match their interests and reading levels.
- Teach and Implement technology lesson plans and projects designed by classroom teachers
- Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material skills initially introduced by the teacher
- Check books in and out using library management software and ensure accurate record-keeping of student borrowing.
- Help maintain the organization and tidiness of the library shelves by shelving returned books and ensuring materials are properly sorted.
- Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Collaborate with teachers to support classroom curriculum by recommending relevant library resources and assisting with resource selection.
- Assist in the development and implementation of engaging library programs and activities designed to promote literacy and a love for reading among primary school students.
- Support the library during special events, such as book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges, by assisting with setup, promotion, and coordination.
- Foster a positive and inclusive library atmosphere where students feel welcome, respected, and encouraged to explore and learn
- Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers
- Attend CPI certification training and obtain certification
- May be assigned a daily am/pm bus route as a ride-along aide on the bus.
- May sub for teachers when needed.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Hallsville R-IV Public School District
