Description

Full-time mid-shift custodial position 10:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. working for the Hallsville School District. Morning hours may be required during school breaks and over the summer. 

 

This position is responsible for keeping his/her assigned area(s) or building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed and established district policies and standards. The custodian must maintain all assigned areas in a state of operational excellence so that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the educational program.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

Performs regular custodial duties in multiple areas (s) and building(s) across the district. This position will float as needed and will be required to travel to and from all buildings. Projects a positive image of the school district with his/her team whenever the public, guests, or visitors are in the building. Accepts and follows verbal or written instructions from the director of operations. Provides services as directed to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities. Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment. Restocks disposable custodial/maintenance items and provides the director of operations with inventory usage data. Cleans and preserves the designated spaces, equipment, furniture, etc. in the building. Maintains building security by opening and closing the building each school day and during special events as directed. Is available for emergency clean up or maintenance of the building(s) or area(s) outside of regular work hours.

 

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Hallsville Public School District.

Language:  Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, training manuals, and instructions. 

  

Physical Demands: Is regularly required to stand, move about, hear, and speak. Must have close, moderate, and distant vision ability. Must continuously use hand and finger strength to grasp tools and climb ladders. Must be able to communicate in noisy environments such as construction sites and over-machine noise. Must be able to frequently stoop, squat, reach, climb, bend, kneel, and push/pull objects such as desks, tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines. Must be able to lift or move 50-75 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.

Technology: Integrate technology into daily instruction; present information to students using a variety of media; Access and present information from online sources in a manner that enhances instruction; lead and monitor students as they perform online research; Instruct in buildings/classes where students are actively using 1-to-1 technology such as laptop computers, iPads, and other devices; Lead students in creating and presenting multi-media projects when such assignments enhance student learning; Use district software for recording grades and finding student information; Readily utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district; Adhere to all District policies and procedures regarding technology use.

 

Physical Demands: An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; Move around the classroom to interact with and manage students/groups of students; Read handwritten or printed material.

 

Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

 

Conditions and Environment: The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active.  Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation.
